Abstract: Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of traditional surgery and minimally invasive surgery via thoracoscopy (VATS) for primary mediastinal tumor. Methods: A total of 94 patients with primary mediastinal tumor admitted to Juye People's Hospital from February 2018 to June 2019 were selected as the study objects. They were randomly divided into two groups according to the digital randomization method, among which the control group was given traditional surgical treatment, while the observation group was treated with minimally invasive surgery via thoracoscopy to compare the therapeutic effects of the two groups. Results: The duration of hospitalization, drainage, analgesic use and operation was shorter in the observation group than those in the control group (P<0.05) and intraoperative blood loss was less than that of the control group (P<0.05); Compared with the control group, the incidence of postoperative complications in the observation group was low, and the differences between the groups were significant (P<0.05); At the same time, the postoperative serum inflammatory factor levels of the two groups were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The application of minimally invasive surgery via thoracoscopy in the treatment of patients with primary mediastinal tumor can not only reduce the body's inflammatory response, but also reduce postoperative complications and shorten the length of hospital stay.
