Abstract:Intramedullary spinal cord metastases (ISCM) is infrequently observed clinically, spreading mainly from lung cancer and breast cancer, and they can occur in any location of the spinal cord, with weakness and sensory alteration or loss presenting in most patients. Magnetic resonance imaging is the most effective and noninvasive technique for diagnosis until now. The optimal treatment for ISCM remains controversial, and surgical excision and radiotherapy are the most common recommendations. Regardless of the treatment, its prognosis is poor now, with the median survival time 4-9 months.
