N⁶-methyladenosine (m⁶A) methylation modification is defined as the methylation at the N⁶position of adenosine. This dynamic process is regulated by writer, eraser and reader. Accumulating evidence indicates that m⁶A methylation modification is involved in the initiation and development of various digestive system neoplasms including proliferation, invasion, metastasis and chemoresistance. A further understanding about the role of m⁶A methylation modification in digestive system neoplasms will benefit the development of a novel precise diagnostic and therapeutic strategy and finally improve the overall prognosis of patients.
