Lateral lymph node metastasis relates with patients′ age, sex, tumor size, tumor location, capsular invasion/extra-thyroidal extension, muli-focality and the number of positive central lymph nodes. Understanding the influencing factors of the lateral lymph node metastasis has important clinical significance for determining the lymph node dissection scope and the indications for the patients with thyroid carcinoma.
